The third word - that I got on New Year's Eve - is Willingness. All the intentions in the world won't work if I'm not willing! And I think there will be more to say YES to and more to say THANK YOU to if I'm willing to challenge myself to jump off more scary cliffs and FLY!

Betsy - I know you'll come up with something just as fabulous for your final months in Seattle! I think your New Year's Day "retreat" is a brilliant idea to set intentions for the year (www.marriedwithluggage.com) with Warren - can't wait to hear the results!

Karen, I think you've hit on something here. A friend of mine told me she has picked a word and an action to guide her through the year for each of the last 20 years and it has worked wonders for her personal development. If something is too complicated we just don't do it, but a word or three is easy to remember. Excellent advice!

Good luck with your year of B.I.P!

1. Yes. I practiced saying "Yes" to the Universe last year instead of "No" "That's a bad idea" "Maybe later". I couldn't possibly say "yes" to every single thing that came my way but I did say Yes to every single thing that the UNIVERSE/God/Spirit/ Intuition presented to me. And I haven't been this happy and fulfilled in 10 years! So this year, It's YES, YES, YES again!

2. Thanks. It's one thing to be grateful for the good stuff but can we be grateful for the challenges and for the events that look bad? I'm saying "Thanks" for everything. I mean, what am I, God? How do I know that something yucky looking isn't a necessary step to the best thing that ever happened to me?

3. I'll get that word on New Year's Eve. Every year I go to a party for women only and we each choose a card from a BIG bowl of angel cards. That word is our gift for the year. We don't have to do anything to deserve it or earn it. It just comes. This year my word was "Clarity" and boy oh boy did I get clear! I'm looking forward to my word for next year!

This gave me a lot of thought on this early Sunday morning---in a good way! I came up with three words of my own which I am going to try and incorporate into my behavior in 2010. My acronym is R.E.M. and I've decided to put this onto my computer screen so I have to see it every day. Thank you for stirring something up here, Karen!

REFLECTION---daily, on my life, my goals, my accomplishments, my shortcomings, my interpersonal relationships

EXPLORATION--mastering new skills, meeting new people, going new places, contemplating new ideas

MOVEMENT---towards goals and dreams, physical exercise and well-being, different intellectual horizons
